It never quite feels like the holidays until the Christmas Ship and its trailing fleet of lit-up boats makes its way across Lake Washington with Christmas carols blaring from its speakers. Mount Baker residents will have two opportunities to see the ship on Sunday, December 7, as it will make its first stop at the Mount Baker Rowing and Sailing Center at 5:30 p.m., then head north to Mount Baker Beach for another performance at 6:45.
The Rowing and Sailing Center will be hosting an open house during and after the first show, featuring sweet treats and hot drinks to enjoy around the Seattle Parks Department’s bonfire. And don’t leave without getting a picture with Santa!
After the Mount Baker Beach show, follow the luminaria up Lake Park Drive South past the park to the Mount Baker Community Club for a post-performance community social. Fill up on cookies baked by your neighbors, and enjoy wine, hot cider, Christmas carols, and an appearance by Santa (after he’s done down the street, of course).
