Start gathering your recipe ideas and making your shopping lists, because there’s only a little over a month to go until the Columbia City Farmers Market kicks off its 2014 season. Starting Wednesday, May 7, more than 40 farmers and local food artisans will sell their wares every Wednesday from 3:00-7:00 p.m. through October 15.
The market, which was voted Seattle’s Best Farmers Market by Seattle Weekly in 2012, is a vibrant and popular community event that offers everything from fresh, in-season fruits, vegetables and flowers, to cheese, seafood, honey and ciders. The market also has a “chefs only” hour that offers professional chefs and restauranteurs the opportunity to shop the market an hour early, from 2:00-3:00 p.m. No doubt some of the fresh produce ends up on the menus at neighboring Columbia City restaurants!
The market is located on South Edmunds Street between 37th Avenue South and the alley at 36th Avenue South. Visit the market’s website for more information, including directions and public transportation options.
