As many Mount Baker residents know, there are few stretches of road in Seattle as beautiful as the lakeside route between Seward Park and Madison Park, and its scenery – Mt. Rainier looming to the south, Lake Washington and the Cascades to the East, all bordered by the lush Olmstead-designed park system – confirms the Shore Run and Walk’s self-proclaimed designation as Seattle’s most scenic race.
All donations and a portion of the proceeds from the June 8 event will benefit the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, which is why your fundraising through a team or by registering as an individual fundraiser is so important. You can choose from a 10K run which begins at Ferdinand Park, and 5K run or walk that starts at Leschi Park, both of which end at Madison Park. Or, if you’d rather leave the hard work to others, you can simply register as a fundraiser only and cheer on the runners and walkers from the sidelines while still contributing to the cause. A kids’ fun run will also be held at Madison Park.
Stick around after the race for food, music, a raffle and the awards ceremony the Party-In-The-Park at Madison Park. Registration for the race is still open, and if you sign up by next Thursday, May 29 you’ll also be entered to win a free pair of running shoes and personal shoe fitting from Super Jock ‘N Jill!
